The First of Many Book Review's!

Okay everyone the time has come for my first book review! So as I said last week, I have read The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. I remember the first time I had picked up this book, I knew from the very beginning that I would have great difficulty putting it down. My instincts were proven to be true even after reading it for the fourth time I still can find myself to be enthralled just by the way Collins weaves her web of words to lead you on an adventure that one would have difficulty forgetting. That is one of the many aspects I love about an author when I read their novels, is the way they place every single word in just the right order and place so that it then can keep you wanting to follow the trail of words just to see what you may find at the end of your destination. For me to be enthralled by a novel so much that I would never want to put it down ever, there have to be certain aspects included while the author is creating their masterpiece. Some of those things are adventure, a book can never be boring I always love one that has a story line to it. When I say story line I mean one that actually goes somewhere and just doesn't leave you wondering if the book is ever going to go somewhere or if you should just go find a newspaper to read. The book needs to catch the readers attention right from the moment they read the first sentence, not from the middle right before reader falls asleep. The ones that can keep me in tuned form the very beginning all the way to the end, and then making me wanting to come back for more are those that are rare. Those are the ones that have a variety of genres all put together in one book. Genres like adventure, romance, suspense, and historical are just one of the many that have a way of keeping well entertained. There are very few books that have the ability to include everything I love in a book, and to keep me from putting it down and never picking it up ever again.Obviously one of those rarities is The Hunger Games, since not only am I writing about it for my first blog review but I also have read it for the fourth time last week. The way Collins wrote this novel was not the only thing I liked about it. The other thing that stood out for me was the message that I had gotten from reading this every single time. Whenever I read something there always at least one message that was meant for the reader to understand by the time they were done reading it. In The Hunger Games, the message that I had precieved was that you should never judge something just at their face value, but for you to know or understand what is going on you need to dig a little deeper. Let's take the character's in the book for example, most of them had put up an invisible wall to hide who they truly are from the everyone who would be watching their every move. Katniss is a major one who was very skilled at keeping her true feelings from being shown to the world. She rarely let her guard down to anyone, and if she did it was to someone she has complete faith in them. From the very moment she volunteered to the time the games had begun, she pretended to be someone that she really wasn't. This was the same for most of the tributes, like Cato himself. From the moment you are introduced with Cato you are shown a person who believes they are above everyone else and that he very confidant. In the end though you are able to see the real Cato for who he truly is, and that is someone who is just as scared as everyone else. He's a human being who has feelings like the rest of them but who used violence as a cover for a tool of survival. When you get into a book like I did you can take the time to try to understand how every character is feeling and the reason that caused them to feel this way. One of the emotions that caught my attention was the one that was passing between Peeta and Katniss and their "star-crossed lovers" relationship that was put on as a show for the Capitol. Even though it was meant to be an act, you can see that even though Katniss didn't want to admit it, she truly did have something for Peeta. She may not have realized it right away, but by the time the story has come to an end you can see she is just coming to terms with the realization that she could possibly have something for him. No matter what they went through they always had each other to go through the ordeal. That is something else I cam away from reading this. That message would be that no matter what you may be going through, whether it's good or bad, it's always better to do it in pairs and not alone. You saw how Katniss struggled in the beginning of the games, but when she found Peeta you can see how she was able view things in a more positive aspect. They started their journey with each other by their side and now they had ended it the same way, and that is something everyone should have the privileged of doing. Whether it's a friend or someone who means the world to you like a family member, you can always have someone you can count on to keep you going through all the bad and good times in your life. So while The Hunger Games had kept me very well entertained throughout the entire adventure, it has also taught me some very valuable lessons that will come to good use in the future.
